Art collector Daniel Jelitzka and curator Gerald Matt have assembled masterpieces by Lisette Model, Nan Goldin, and Diane Arbus for an exhibition at Westlicht in Vienna. The Camera is Cruel presents a kaleidoscope of impressions of the conditio humana. Despite their different backgrounds and generations, the photographers share a fascination with the raw reality of everyday life and the diversity of human existence beyond staged beauty. The accompanying book highlights the expressive power of the photographs through a minimalist design, allowing the artwork to resonate. Divided into three sections, it presents the work of each artist clearly, creating a cohesive whole. The Camera is Cruel was named one of the most beautiful books by the Austrian Publishers Association.
